The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mr. El Houssein Ould Medou, received a scientific delegation of underwater heritage experts, led by archaeologist Jean-Yves Bleu, who discovered the wreck of the Lamdez off the Mauritanian coast in the 1980s.<\/p>\n
The scientific delegation is currently in Mauritania on a scientific and archaeological mission to study the submerged cultural heritage off the Mauritanian coast, specifically in the Dakhlet Nouadhibou area.<\/p>\n
The delegation includes a number of experts and researchers who participated in the Seventh Sahel Forum, where their work focused on studying and protecting Mauritania’s maritime and underwater cultural heritage, thereby strengthening efforts to preserve national memory and protect shared heritage.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the delegation presented the Minister with copies of the book \u201cLamdez\u201d by explorer Jean-Yves Bleu, copies of Th\u00e9odore Monod’s book \u201cArgen Island: Mauritania – A Historical Study,\u201d as well as an original copy of a documentary film made by a team of scientists in the 1980s about our country’s coastal region.<\/p>\n
