The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzough, participated today, Wednesday, in New York, in the ministerial meeting of the Two-State Solution Alliance.<\/p>\n
This meeting, organized within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, comes a year after the launch of the initiative “The Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in partnership with the European Union and the Kingdom of Norway, and days after the United Nations General Assembly adopted the “New York Declaration.”<\/p>\n
In a speech delivered during the meeting, the minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Norway, and the European Union for organizing this meeting, appreciating the efforts of Saudi Arabia and France to establish the New York Declaration, which paved the way for very positive results from significant recognitions of the Palestinian state. He thanked the countries that prioritized the principles of law and justice and sided with the requirements of international law, deciding to stand by Palestinian rights, while calling on other countries to join the ranks of the international community that voted in favor of the New York Declaration, with more than 140 countries supporting it.<\/p>\n
He stated that the two-state solution is not a reward but rather the wording of the partition resolution adopted by the United Nations nearly 80 years ago, emphasizing that this recognition is a necessity dictated by the circumstances in confronting Israeli arrogance and the genocide it has committed over the past two years in the Gaza Strip.He pointed out that the current situation requires this alliance to work on preserving the significant gains that have been achieved and to establish a roadmap that enables the realization of the main objective, which is the implementation of the two-state solution, which the international community considers the only solution for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.He noted that the recognition of the Palestinian state by more than 150 countries is of utmost importance, but the establishment of the State of Palestine on the ground still faces numerous challenges, calling for the necessity of taking tangible and urgent steps to achieve this g<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
