The Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mr. Mohamedou Ahmedou Mhaimid, returned to the capital, on Sunday, from Rabat after representing our country at the work of the twenty-sixth session of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO). <\/p>\n
During this session, held on 1-2 July, our country was elected member of the Air Navigation and Air Safety Committees of the Organization. <\/p>\n
The final statement of the session (Rabat Declaration) notably underlined ACAO\u2019s main role, as a specialized Arab organization which aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Arab countries in the field of civil aviation. It also seeks to lay the foundations for the development of this organization to meet the needs of the Arab Nation in terms of secure air transportation. <\/p>\n
The statement adds that ACAO is based on the Charter of the League of Arab States and the central role it plays in fostering Inter-Arab cooperation through specialized organizations formed inside and outside of the League. It affirmed the commitment of the Member States to stick to the principles and objectives enshrined in the agreement founding the organization and in its strategic plan, in particular the relevant roles aimed at strengthening the bonds of unity and solidarity between Member States, while defending their general interests and coordinating among themselves and with international organizations and regional groupings. <\/p>\n
The Declaration expressed the deep regret of the participants following the loss of human life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting negative effects on all economic sectors, in particular that of air transport in the Arab world. It stressed the need for Arab countries to continue to coordinate with relevant health services in their actions regarding travel during the pandemic. <\/p>\n
It called for direct negotiations with countries to achieve mutual recognition of vaccination certificates, and urged to lift travel restrictions, considering the various guidelines issued by the WHO, regarding health measures related to international traffic. <\/p>\n
Rabat Declaration finally welcomed the tireless efforts made by the Arab countries at the level of various sectors concerned to face this pandemic, stressing the need to continue them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
