The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, signed on Tuesday evening in Nouakchott, with the Ambassador of the French Republic, Mr. Alexandre Garcia, a financial protocol to support the expansion of the Coastal AFtout Water Transmission Network, worth 43 million euros, equivalent to 1.85 billion new ouguiyas.<\/p>\n
The project aims to support national efforts to improve access to potable water services, especially in Nouakchott City and residential communities located on the route of the Coastal AFtout pipeline.<\/p>\n
In his speech on the occasion, the Minister of Economy and Finance explained that this financing will contribute to alleviating the burden of access to water for many households by ensuring a regular supply of quality water, as well as promoting economic and social activities and contributing to the achievement of the relevant sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n
For his part, the French Ambassador emphasized that the project responds to a pressing need for the population of Nouakchott, which is experiencing increasing demographic growth, stressing that France will continue its commitment to support Mauritania’s efforts in the field of water access.<\/p>\n
