On Thursday morning, the Mauritanian Workers’ Federation organized a festival to commemorate the International Workers’ Day, which falls on May 1 every year, at its headquarters in Luxor, under the slogan: \u201cLet’s work together to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth to create jobs and decent work for all.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Secretary General of the Union, Mr. Kouri Ould Abdelmoul, congratulated the national workers and thanked the trade unions that are affiliated to the Union.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the Federation will not back down from any grievance against any union or simple worker, stressing that it will follow up on all issues until they are resolved.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that the worker and the operator are partners in work, calling on workers to be serious and disciplined, and operators to fulfill their duties towards their workers.<\/p>\n
He said that non-permanent contracts have become widespread, highlighting the need to eliminate this phenomenon and create an organized system in the labor union field.<\/p>\n
During the rally, the workers’ demands were reviewed, including continuing the reforms undertaken by the state, resolving the illegal status of workers, increasing wages, compensation, providing housing, and health and social insurance for workers.<\/p>\n
