The President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, inaugurated Monday morning in Nouakchott the “Hay Sakin” bridge in the Dar Naim district.<\/p>\n

The reinforced concrete bridge is 200 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 7 meters high, in addition to a 71-meter-long access bridge with retaining walls on both sides and a roundabout with a diameter of 10.5 meters.<\/p>\n

The financial cost of the construction of the Hay Sakin bridge amounted to 318,516,878.4 ouguiyas, financed by the Mauritanian state treasury.<\/p>\n

His Excellency the President of the Republic followed up with an artistic presentation on the characteristics of this road facility and its role in enhancing the flow of traffic, before cutting the symbolic ribbon and unveiling the commemorative plaque, marking the entry of this bridge into service.<\/p>\n
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mr. Ali Ould Veirik, explained that the entry into service of this quality facility comes within the framework of the implementation of the pledges of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Gazouani to the inhabitants of the city of Nouakchott.<\/p>\n

He said that this facility, which is part of the celebrations commemorating the sixty-fourth anniversary of the National Independence Day, will contribute – in addition to the urban touch that it will add to the face of the city – to solving the problem of traffic congestion, pointing out that urban transport in major cities is a fundamental challenge and an important factor in enhancing the economic attractiveness of any city.<\/p>\n
He recalled that the Urban Directive Plan 2040 recommended the establishment of an efficient and efficient mass transport system, according to reserved routes, in addition to the construction of bridges as part of any sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n

He noted that the bridge will be a vital hub to facilitate the movement of citizens and enhance the flow of traffic, reviewing some of the achievements of the equipment and transport sector, which have enabled linking the provinces with their state capitals, improving transport services on the national road network, and building urban road networks in Nouakchott and in some inland cities.<\/p>\n

Fatimetou Mint Abdel Malek, president of the Nouakchott region, explained that the completion of this transformer, in addition to adding an aesthetic touch to the urban face of the capital Nouakchott, will contribute to improving the flow of mobility, linking the regions to each other more easily and quickly, as well as supporting local economic development.<\/p>\n
She pointed out that the construction of this bridge is part of the efforts of the public authorities aimed at modernizing the city of Nouakchott and meeting the growing needs in the field of developing the road network.<\/p>\n

In a speech earlier, the mayor of Dar Naim, Mr. Momma Ould Koutoub Ould Mommou, explained on his behalf and on behalf of the mayor of the municipality of Teyaret that this bridge, which is a major step towards strengthening the infrastructure in the city of Nouakchott, will contribute to the creation of an efficient and high-capacity mass public transport system.<\/p>\n

He added that the Hay Sakin bridge constitutes a new building block within the framework of the implementation of the Nouakchott Mobility Project by 2026, which constitutes an integrated vision for the development of urban transport.<\/p>\n
The mayor called for enabling the municipalities of Dar Naim and Tiaret to exploit the squares adjacent to the bridge to preserve the urban appearance and contribute to the modernization of the city of Nouakchott.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of the Prime Minister, Mokhtar Ould Diay, \u00a0the Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, the two Ministers Advisors to the Presidency of the Republic, members of the Government, the Governor of Nouakchott North, the heads of the military and security agencies, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Mauritania.<\/p>\n
