The Mauritanian Technical Committee participating in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP29) currently underway in Baku, Azerbaijan, held on Thursday at the Mauritanian Pavilion, a lecture entitled: \u201cImprovements made by our country under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Trust Fund for the period January 2024 to October 2026.\u201d
\nThe lecture was opened by the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ms. Messouda bint Baham Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, head of the Mauritanian delegation participating in the Baku Climate Session.
\nThis fund aims to respond to urgent financing in the context of climate change and the adaptation of pandemic diseases.
\nThe lecturers explained that Mauritania’s national program is organized around four axes, including a ministerial committee and a technical committee distributed among the government sectors: Ministries of Economy, Finance; Industry and Minerals, Energy, Petroleum; Water and Sanitation; Environment and Sustainable Development, and the Central Bank.
\nThey added that the axes of this fund address the integration of climate into the management of public finances and investments, social protection against climate risks, carbon absorption and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthening the institutional framework for water management and sustainability.
\nThe lecture was attended by members of the Mauritanian mission and a number of technical and financial partners.
\nThe technical committee includes H.E. Ambassador-at-Large Samba Thiam, coordinator of the committee, Mr. Ahmed Ould El Zein, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, and Mr. Lehbib Ekhrambali, in charge of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in charge of developing green hydrogen and energy transition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
