{"id":2028,"date":"2021-05-21T19:21:09","date_gmt":"2021-05-21T19:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.64.2\/en\/index.php\/2021\/05\/21\/justice-minister-receives-us-human-rights-delegation\/"},"modified":"2021-05-21T19:21:09","modified_gmt":"2021-05-21T19:21:09","slug":"justice-minister-receives-us-human-rights-delegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ami.mr\/en\/archives\/2028","title":{"rendered":"Justice Minister Receives US Human Rights Delegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Cheikh Abdoullah Ould Boya, received, on Friday in Nouakchott, an American human rights delegation, led by Mr. Sean Tunner, coordinator of the Abolition Institute in Chicago. <\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the Minister briefed the delegation on the measures taken by the Mauritanian government as part of its efforts to protect and promote human rights, in general, and to combat the aftermaths of slavery, in particular. He detailed our country&#8217;s response to all the provisions of the roadmap specific to the fight against the effects of slavery, stressing that these efforts have recently resulted in the approval, during this year, of a law on human trafficking by the National Assembly. <\/p>\n<p>The members of the delegation praised the efforts made by the Mauritanian government to protect human rights and fight against the aftermaths of slavery and welcomed the atmosphere of openness in the country, which is evident. through the involvement of civil society organizations which are invited to fully play their role.
