On 18 July, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, President-elect, received a message of congratulations from HE Mr. Fumio Kishida, the Prime Minister of Japan, on the occasion of his re-election, in the first round, on 29 June 2024, to the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.<\/p>\n
The message reads as follows:<\/p>\n
\u201cHis Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, On behalf of the Japanese government and people, I would like, Excellency, to warmly congratulate you on your re-election as President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.<\/p>\n
I think that your re-election is a reflection of the confidence and high expectations of the Mauritanian people in You.<\/p>\n
I am convinced that under your leadership, Mauritania will continue to be a cornerstone of peace and stability in the region and will make further progress in social and economic development.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead to the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) to be held in August 2025, I am pleased to work closely with Mauritania, which currently holds the presidency of the African Union (AU), for the preparations, including the TICAD Ministerial Meeting to be held in 2024 August. I would like to invite Your Excellency to participate in TICAD 9, which will also be an opportunity to further develop bilateral relations between Japan and Mauritania.<\/p>\n
