Presidential candidate Biram Dah Abeid presided Thursday evening in the city of Nouadhibou over the closing rally of his campaign for the presidential elections scheduled for June 29, 2024.<\/p>\n
The candidate greeted his supporters for the warm reception, criticizing the “starvation of the Mauritanian people by the ruling regimes,” as he put it.<\/p>\n
He called on his supporters to vote for him en masse on Saturday, to protect the polling stations from what he described as “fraud,” and to report any case of fraud to the Independent National Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n
He stressed that if he wins the presidency, he will work to regularize the status of all workers in the institutions and restore their “stolen rights,” he said.<\/p>\n
He expressed his respect and appreciation for the country’s military institution, emphasizing the need to keep this sector away from politics. He considered that what threatens the country is “the starvation of the people, the falsification of election results, the looting of public funds, and the absence of education,” he said.<\/p>\n
He rejected the monopolization of deals by some businessmen at the expense of others, calling for the liberalization of this field.<\/p>\n
