The Minister of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernization of Administration, Mohamed Abdallahi Ould Louli, inaugurated, Thursday in Nouakchott, the regional workshop on the role of posts in the economic and social development of countries in the transformation process, organized in cooperation between the Mauritanian Postal Company “Mauripost” and the Universal Postal Union.
\nThis workshop aims to capture and exchange innovative experiences and benefit from the experiences of UPU member countries from the Maghreb and Africa in order to promote the strategic thinking of Mauripost in order to better prepare for its mission as a designated public operator to provide postal service and contribute to financial inclusion.
\nThe two-day workshop will bring together experts from postal authorities in the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa.
\nIn a speech on the occasion, the Minister stressed that the workshop falls within the context of “Mauripost” tireless and continuous efforts to activate its pivotal role as a public actor mandated by the Mauritanian authorities to provide the postal public service and actively participate in financial inclusion.
\nIn recent years, the Mauritanian Postal Company has achieved significant results, including expanding the network, digitizing some of its financial services and professionalizing its staff, which has enabled it to gain the trust of public authorities, customers and partners, he said.
\nHe added that his sector is working to raise the performance of the Mauritanian Postal Company and modernize it, embodying the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, aimed at bringing the public service closer to the citizen.
\nFor his part, the Director General of the Mauritanian Post Company, Mr. Aliyin Ould Issa, said that the company enjoys the confidence of the national authorities, who accompany it in strategic thinking seeking to identify paths that help promote and accelerate the achievement of goals to better adapt to the new changes characterized by digitization.
\nHe praised the support provided by the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union, which falls within the framework of tripartite cooperation mechanisms to contribute to achieving the postal vision in the horizon of 2030 through training and technical cooperation tools to help Member States face challenges and seize the opportunities of the postal sector in the path of transformation.
\nFor his part, the Executive Secretary of the Postal Union of the West African Economic Organization, Mr. Adama Diouf, thanked Mauritania for its initiative and its clear contribution to modernization and innovation in the management and delivery of postal services in Mauritania, as well as in the enormous means used, with the aim of successfully regulating the future of the postal sector in Africa.
\nThe amazing development of information and communication technologies had led to significant changes in the needs of the population of our countries, as they became more demanding in terms of demand for postal services.
\nThe Regional Representative in charge of the Arab region of the Universal Postal Union, Mr. Mokhtar El Shazly, expressed his pleasure to attend this workshop, which constitutes an important turning point in postal activities.
