{"id":16595,"date":"2024-05-17T10:20:56","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T10:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ami.mr\/en\/?p=16595"},"modified":"2024-05-17T10:21:20","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T10:21:20","slug":"arab-summit-calls-for-international-conference-to-resolve-palestinian-issue-on-the-basis-of-two-state-solution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ami.mr\/en\/archives\/16595","title":{"rendered":"Arab Summit Calls for International Conference to Resolve Palestinian Issue on the Basis of Two-State Solution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the conclusion of the thirty-third regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, the leaders of the Arab States called for the convening of an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations to resolve the Palestinian question on the basis of the two-state solution, in a way that ends the Israeli occupation of all occupied Arab territories and embodies an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, to live in security and peace alongside Israel as a way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.<br \/>\nThis came in the final statement of the Arab summit held at the Sakhir Palace in Manama and called the &#8220;Bahrain Declaration&#8221;, which reads as follows:<br \/>\n&#8220;At the kind invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Their Majesties, Excellencies and Highnesses, the leaders of the Arab States, convened the thirty-third regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level (Bahrain Summit), under the chairmanship of His Majesty the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in affirmation of the bonds of brotherhood, history and common destiny that unite the Arab States.<br \/>\nAware of the strategic importance of the Arab nation on the world stage, its economic potential and human resources, and the need to create conditions for enhanced cooperation, building economic partnerships and achieving comprehensive development based on common interests and mutual benefits, in order to meet the aspirations of our Arab peoples and achieve growth and prosperity;<br \/>\nBelieving in the values of tolerance and human coexistence, promoting human fraternity and mutual respect among the nations and peoples of the world, supporting dialogue and understanding among religions, cultures and civilizations, promoting world peace and stability, adhering to the principles of our Islamic religion and our authentic Arab values, and consolidating fraternity, harmony and cooperation among the States of the world for the good and interest of humanity;<br \/>\nKeen to uphold solidarity, solidarity and synergy to deal collectively with the current circumstances, and dedicating the importance of communication, cooperation and integration to promote the collective progress of our States in all fields towards a secure, stable and prosperous region that meets the interests and aspirations of their peoples\u2026&#8221;<br \/>\nWe, the leaders of the Arab countries collectively:<br \/>\n&#8211; We express appreciation for the good efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the thirty-second Arab Summit, and the benevolent endeavors it is making to unify efforts, support joint Arab action, enhance regional security, and defend the interests of Arab countries and their peoples.<br \/>\n&#8211; We affirm the importance of the continuation of the Arab-Islamic Joint Ministerial Committee in its efforts aimed at stopping the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, ending the humanitarian catastrophe suffered by more than two million and three hundred thousand Palestinian citizens, and mobilizing an international position in support of the right of the brotherly Palestinian people to live in security, safety and freedom in their independent and sovereign state on their national soil. We thank the Committee for its efforts on the regional and international arenas, expressing appreciation for the efforts of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in preparing and arranging for the thirty-third summit.<br \/>\n&#8211; We affirm the need to immediately stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from all areas of the Strip, the lifting of the siege imposed on it, the removal of all obstacles and the opening of all crossings to the entry of adequate humanitarian assistance throughout it, and to enable United Nations organizations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), to work, and to provide them with financial support to carry out their responsibilities freely and safely, reiterating our categorical rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including That Jerusalem.<br \/>\nWe call for urgent action for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, an end to the aggression in the Gaza Strip, protection for civilians and the release of hostages and detainees.<br \/>\nIn this context, we strongly condemn Israel&#8217;s obstruction of ceasefire efforts in the Gaza Strip and its continued military escalation by expanding its aggression against the Palestinian city of Rafah despite international warnings of catastrophic humanitarian consequences.<br \/>\nWe also condemn the Israeli forces&#8217; control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing with the aim of tightening the siege on civilians in the Strip, which led to the suspension of the crossing&#8217;s work and the cessation of the flow of humanitarian aid, and the loss of the main lifeline of the Palestinian population of Gaza, and in this regard we call on Israel to withdraw from Rafah, in order to ensure safe humanitarian access.<br \/>\nWe reiterate our firm position and call for a just and comprehensive peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question, and we support the call of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, to convene an international peace conference and to take irreversible steps to implement the two-state solution in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the resolutions of international legitimacy to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of the fourth of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, and to accept its membership in the United Nations as an independent and fully sovereign state like other countries in the world, and to ensure the restoration of all legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Especially his right to in return, self-determination, empowerment and support.<br \/>\nWe call on the international community to implement the Security Council resolutions issued since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip, including resolution 2720, and we urge the United Nations Chief Humanitarian Coordinator to expedite the establishment and activation of the UN mechanism stipulated in the resolution to be established inside the Gaza Strip to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and to overcome all obstacles imposed by Israel to the entry of aid in sufficient quantity to respond to the humanitarian catastrophe that the Gaza Strip is experiencing.<br \/>\nWe call for the coordination of a joint Arab effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip urgently and immediately, in cooperation with the relevant United Nations organizations.<br \/>\nIn this context, we call on the international community to fulfill its legal obligations and take decisive measures to end the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories occupied in June 1967, including the occupied Syrian Golan and southern Lebanon, and to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions.<br \/>\nWe stress the need for Israel, the occupying Power, to cease all its illegal actions that violate the rights of the Palestinian people and undermine the two-State solution and the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace in the region, including the construction and expansion of settlements, the confiscation of Palestinian land and the displacement of Palestinians from their homes.<br \/>\nWe stress the need to stop all Israeli military operations and settler terrorism against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank and to put an end to all measures that impede the growth of the Palestinian economy, including the withholding of Palestinian funds, in violation of international law, international humanitarian law and resolutions of international legitimacy.<br \/>\nWe stress the sanctity of the occupied city of Jerusalem and its place among the monotheistic religions, and we reject and condemn all Israeli attempts aimed at Judaizing Jerusalem, changing its Arab, Islamic and Christian identity, changing the historical and legal status quo in it and its holy sites, and providing protection for the holy places in Bethlehem and not compromising its cultural identity and religious sanctity.<br \/>\nWe affirm our support for the historical Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and its role in protecting its Arab, Islamic and Christian identity, and its role in preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites, and that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque \/ Al-Haram Al-Sharif with its entire area of 144,000 square meters is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims only, and stressing that the Jerusalem Endowments Department, and the Jordanian Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs, is the exclusive legitimate body with competence to manage and maintain the affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and regulate entry to it.<br \/>\nFor a short term solution, we collectively call for the deployment of United Nations international protection and peacekeeping forces in the occupied Palestinian territory until the two-State solution is
