{"id":16565,"date":"2024-05-16T13:43:41","date_gmt":"2024-05-16T13:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ami.mr\/en\/?p=16565"},"modified":"2024-05-16T13:43:55","modified_gmt":"2024-05-16T13:43:55","slug":"prime-minister-mauritania-is-committed-to-the-option-of-financial-inclusion-as-the-path-leading-to-accelerated-growth-and-equal-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ami.mr\/en\/archives\/16565","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister: Mauritania is Committed to the Option of Financial Inclusion as the Path Leading to Accelerated Growth and Equal Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister, Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, affirmed Mauritania&#8217;s commitment to the option of financial inclusion as the path leading to accelerated and sustainable growth, shared prosperity, equal opportunities and the reduction of economic disparities.<br \/>\nHe added during his supervision on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic on the activities commemorating the National Day for Financial Inclusion organized by the Central Bank of Mauritania on Thursday at the Palais des Congr\u00e8s, that the policy followed by the government within the framework of monetary governance has enabled to contain inflation, enhance the stability of the financial system, modernize payment systems, help financial inclusion, and continue to modernize the monetary policy framework and the exchange rate.<br \/>\nThe speech reads as follows:<br \/>\n&#8220;In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful<br \/>\nAnd prayers and peace be upon the Holy Prophet<br \/>\nDear Ministers,<br \/>\nMr. Governor of the Central Bank,<br \/>\nLadies and Gentlemen,<br \/>\nIt is a great honor for me to preside over the opening ceremony of the National Day for Financial Inclusion, on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic, whose high patronage of this event reflects the great care given by the government to creating the conditions for all Mauritanians to access a variety of financial services of high quality and affordable costs.<br \/>\nThe importance of financial inclusion lies not only in providing all financial services to various segments of society to be used through official channels, but also through the close relationship between financial inclusion on the one hand, and financial stability and economic growth on the other, as well as through the vital role of financial inclusion in improving the living standards of middle- and vulnerable income groups, in addition to the positive repercussions of its indicators on reducing unemployment rates, improving income distribution and social welfare.<br \/>\nLadies and gentlemen<br \/>\nThe policy adopted within the framework of monetary governance has made it possible to contain inflation, strengthen the stability of the financial system, modernize payment systems, assist financial inclusion, and continue to modernize the monetary policy and exchange rate framework. In the field of payment, systems for real-time settlement of large amounts, remote clearing and central securities depository have been operationalized, and the adoption of the implementing texts of the Law on Electronic Services and Means of Payment has enabled the accreditation of many payment institutions and electronic monetary institutions, and the expansion of universal access to financial services, especially for the most vulnerable citizens.<br \/>\nThe organization of this day comes in the context of the endorsement by the National Council for Financial Inclusion of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion, which aims to develop an inclusive, resilient and sustainable financial sector, increase financial awareness and promote inclusive green finance for all economic actors residing in Mauritania, especially youth, women, rural populations, forcibly displaced people and micro, small and medium enterprises. The roadmap for this strategy has set as its goal to reach financial inclusion of at least 63% by 2028.<br \/>\nThe day, organized by the government in collaboration with national and international partners and key players in the financial sector, will provide a critical opportunity to present and discuss the key components of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, including the National Financial Education Strategy, the National Digital Payment Strategy, and the Inclusive Green Finance Roadmap, enabling participants to explore various key topics related to financial inclusion, and learn about the reforms that have been undertaken to enhance stability, sustainability and inclusion for shared growth.<br \/>\nWhile the government affirms its commitment to the option of financial inclusion, as the path leading to accelerated and sustainable growth, shared prosperity, equal opportunities and reducing economic disparities, I announce the opening of the National Day for Financial Inclusion, wishing you all the best and success.<br \/>\nPeace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.&#8221;<br \/>\nFor his part, His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, Mohamed Lemine Ould Dehbi, explained that organizing this day under the slogan &#8220;Financial inclusion for accelerated growth and shared well-being&#8221;, in cooperation with national and international partners, reflects the interest in involving all stakeholders and taking all necessary measures, in order to ensure the appropriate conditions to ensure that all citizens have access to the financial products and services necessary to achieve their aspirations.<br \/>\nHe added that this meeting reflects Mauritania&#8217;s continued commitment to promoting stability, sustainability and inclusiveness for the common well-being.<br \/>\nHe pointed out that the commemoration of this day comes in the context of a set of reforms in the banking sector implemented since 2022, including the areas of governance reforms in banks, and the definition of the annual report form on the subject of governance to modernize control operations, and combating money laundering and terrorist financing at the level of primary banks.<br \/>\nThe reforms included updating the regulatory framework, activating the Mauritanian Guarantee Fund, implementing the ATS-CSD system and its accompanying regulatory system, developing financial products and services, in addition to approving the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion, the National Strategy for Financial Education, the National Strategy for Digital Payment, and the Roadmap for Inclusive Green Finance, he said.<br \/>\nThe meeting included several sessions during which presentations were made by financial experts on &#8220;The Role of Financial Inclusion in Economic and Social Development&#8221;, and &#8220;Financial Technology and the Digital Currency of the Central Bank of Mauritania: A New Financial Model or a Threat to Stability?&#8221; , &#8220;Regulator&#8217;s responsibilities between promoting financial inclusion and the duty of supervision&#8221;, &#8220;The role of financial education and consumer protection in supporting financial inclusion&#8221;, and &#8220;The potential impact of green and inclusive finance on sustainable development and combating climate change&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister, Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, affirmed Mauritania&#8217;s commitment to the option of financial inclusion as the path leading to accelerated and sustainable growth, shared prosperity, equal opportunities and the reduction of economic disparities.
