On 27 February, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the credentials of HE Mr. Carlos Pereira, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Portugal to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.<\/p>\n
At the end of the credentials presentation ceremony, the President of the Republic granted an audience to the Portuguese diplomat in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.<\/p>\n
Shortly after the audience, HE Mr. Carlos Pereira made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, in which he expressed the honor of having been received by His Excellency the President of the Republic, recalling the excellent relations that exist between the Republic of Portugal and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.<\/p>\n
He affirmed the eagerness of both countries to work to continually develop their relations and further expand them to cover many areas, including security and green energy.<\/p>\n
