Announcement of New Government Composition

Her Excellency Ms. Aissata Ba Yahya, Minister-Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, announced the composition of the new government on Saturday during a press conference held at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott.

The following is the text of the announcement of the government’s composition:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Prayers and peace be upon the noblest of Messengers.

Following the resignation of the previous government, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, appointed Mr. El Moctar Ould Djay as Prime Minister and tasked him with forming a new government equipped with the political and technical expertise necessary to continue implementing the “My Ambition for the Nation” programme.

This government must be capable of addressing the challenges arising from the current global crisis, strengthening the social safety net for low-income citizens, creating new momentum, and inspiring hope in the areas of training, employment, integration, and youth empowerment, as well as promoting development in our cities and inland regions.

On the proposal of the Prime Minister, His Excellency the President of the Republic signed a decree appointing the following individuals to the positions indicated below:

  1. Minister of Youth Empowerment, Employment, Sports, and Civic Service: Mohamed Abdallahi Ould Louly
  2. Minister of Justice: Mohamed Ould Soueidatt
  3. Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad: Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug
  4. Minister of Defence, Veterans’ Affairs, and Children of Martyrs: Ba Ousmane
  5. Minister of the Interior, Promotion of Decentralization, and Local Development: El Moctar Ould Ahmed Bouceif
  6. Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education: Sidi El Hadj Ould Dah
  7. Minister of Economic Affairs and Development: Mohamedou Ould M’Haimid
  8. Minister of Finance: Codioro Moussa N’Guenore
  9. Minister of Vocational Training, Handicrafts, and Trades: Mohamed Malainine Ould Eyih
  10. Minister of Education and Reform of the Education System: Houda Babah
  11. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research: Yacoub Ould Moine
