The Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Mr. Mohamedou Ahmedou Mhaimid, received today, Tuesday, at his office in Nouakchott, the Representative and Country Director of the World Food Program in Mauritania, Mr. Claude Kakule.
The two sides discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the World Food Program to support efforts to develop the agricultural sector, improve food systems, and enhance its security in the country.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the agricultural sector is a top priority in the government’s agenda, given its pivotal role in achieving food security and promoting sustainable development.
For his part, the WFP Representative and Country Director expressed the program’s readiness to work alongside the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty and to support its ambitious programs aimed at increasing agricultural production and strengthening policies related to financing the sector, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural development.
