The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Sid’ Ahmed Ould Bouh, held yesterday on the sidelines of the meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (FIDA) held in Rome, Italy on 12-13 February 2025 with Mr. Álvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The two parties discussed the great challenges facing agricultural development, in particular how to stimulate investment in the agricultural sector, find innovative mechanisms to mobilize financing, strengthen strategies, benefit from partnerships, build resilience and achieve food security to ensure the integration of the rural economy into the production cycle.
The meeting discussed the portfolio of projects financed by the Fund in our country and how to strengthen it and contribute to greater mobilization of resources, especially those related to the resources of the environment, climate and sustainable development funds.
The Minister also congratulated the Fund for expanding its activity in Mauritania by including new areas in the geographical area of its interventions in the country, especially in oasis areas.
IFAD is one of the most important technical and financial partners of our country in the field of agriculture, resilience assistance and sustainable development.
The Minister was accompanied by H.E. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Dahi, Ambassador of Mauritania to Italy.
