HE Mohamed Ould Maiev presented his credentials last Wednesday in Ottawa to the Governor-General of Canada, Mrs. Marie Simon, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Full Power of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the State of Canada.
During the ceremony, HE the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to the Governor-General of Canada, and his desire to develop cooperation relations between the two countries.
Mauritania hosts several Canadian investments in the field of extractive industries and looks forward to developing its relations with Canada in many areas, including sustainable development, green hydrogen, renewable energies, vocational training, combating extremism and supporting security and stability in the Sahel region, the ambassador said.
For her part, the Governor General of Canada asked HE the Ambassador to convey her greetings and feelings of friendship to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, expressing her country’s readiness to continue developing its relationship with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in areas of common interest.
