Our country participates in the work of the extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent delegates
Cairo
The Islamic Republic of Mauritania, represented by HE Ambassador Hussein Sidi Abdallah dieh, Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, participated Thursday in Cairo in the extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates, to discuss the provision of urgent assistance to the Lebanese Republic in light of the difficult circumstances faced by the Lebanese people.
‘The Islamic Republic of Mauritania reiterates its full solidarity with brotherly Lebanon, which is going through difficult and exceptional circumstances, where the humanitarian situation has reached an unbearable level, with hundreds of thousands of people abandoning their homes and becoming homeless and vulnerable to diseases, epidemics and hunger,’ the Ambassador said, adding that the international community is urgently required to coordinate efforts and mobilise the necessary resources to provide emergency humanitarian support, medical assistance to the injured, food, shelter and care for the displaced people.
He said that the continuation of the Israeli aggression will worsen the humanitarian and living conditions, stressing that there is no alternative to the immediate cessation of the hideous war of annihilation that Israel is waging unchecked in occupied Palestine and Lebanon.
He warned that Israel’s indiscriminate killing of unarmed civilians, including children, women and the elderly, displacement of the population and destruction of their homes will worsen the situation, pointing out that the failure of the international community’s legal, moral and even humanitarian system to stop the war in Gaza has made Israel persist in its dirty wars and commit more shameful crimes.
